This book is about a girl name Maryanne and her grandpa, who has a whole conversation about what her favorite sounds are.Maryanne begins to mention all types of sounds she hears in the city. She says, her favorite sounds are the honks of the cars, the motorcycle sounds, the cats meowing, the fire engine sirens, the police whistles, etc. Maryanne asked her grandpa why he asked, and he said he was hoping she would say harmonica was her favorite sound. So, Maryanne's grandpa began playing the harmonica in a happy tune. Maryanne believed that her grandpa was teasing her. She said, harmonica was not a sound, it was the best music in the world.

Book Evaluation:

1) I would recommend this book to my class because the students can relate to family and neighborhood. The grandpa has a great sense of humor too. This book is an excellent book for the younger children who are learning how to read, and are learning how to familiarize sounds with words. The illustrations are great.

2) I would recommend this book to the grade level of Pre-Kinder to First grade level.

3) I would include this book in the unit of Reading. I would use this book for them to familiarize sounds with words. This is an excellent book for students who are learning English as their second language too because it helps them with learning new vocabulary terms. I would bring in 3-D objects that they can interact with, after their read out loud time.
