Summary:
This book is a song-along book. Take Me Out of the Bathtub contributes with different poems, in which copies lyrical phrases of other songs. It contains 14 traditional tunes. For example, Take Me Out of the Bathtub is similar to the famous baseball song, called Take Me Out to the Ball Game. Take Me Out is the repetitive lyrical phrase in which the poem uses allot. This lyrical poem is about a boy who complains in being in the bathtub for the past two hours, and wants to get out of the bathtub. For every page that turns, there is a different lyrical poem and it relates to other songs because of its repetitive phrases. There is another poem in which uses similar phrases as the famous Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and London Bridge is Falling Down. Some of these poems have rhyming phrases too.
Book Evaluation:
1) I would recommend this book for my students because I really liked how the poems connected with similar lyrics. I would use this book to sing-along with the younger students.
2) I would use this book between the grade levels of Pre-School to Kindergarten.
3) I would include this book in the unit of History. If I were to cover the History of American Revolution, I would emphasize the songs, Yankee Doodle, and Take Me Out of the Ball Game.
